The upper pairs polishable full-grain leather with ripstop ballistic nylon, so it cleans up for inspection but does not carry the weight of an all-leather 8-inch boot. It meets ASTM F1671-24 for resistance to penetration by bloodborne pathogens, which matters on any call where you do not get to choose what ends up on your feet. Underneath, the Danner Comfort System runs a dual-density footbed with a molded TPU arch cup, a cushioned heel, and air vents through a mesh top cover, so the boot breathes and dries. The semi-locking side zipper stays shut when it is up and releases the moment you pull it down, which is the difference between putting boots on in ten seconds and putting them on in two minutes.
