The Iron Ranger was built for the iron miners of Minnesota's Mesabi Range, who needed a double layer of leather over the toe. That cap toe, the speed hooks and the Goodyear welt are still what set it apart. The 8000 puts the boot in Oro Legacy, the oil-tanned full-grain leather that made the Classic Moc famous. It starts a warm orange-brown and darkens into a deep patina with wear. Leather insoles and a cork midsole shape to your feet over time. Puritan triple stitching and a steel shank hold it together for years, and the Vibram 430 Mini-Lug outsole gives traction in any season. Handcrafted in Red Wing, Minnesota, and fully resoleable.

How does the Iron Ranger fit? Red Wing Heritage runs large. Most people go a half size down from their sneaker size. It fits snug at first and the leather and cork break in to your foot.

How is the 8000 different from the 8111 Amber Harness Iron Ranger? Same boot, different leather. Oro Legacy is lighter in color, oil-tanned and softer out of the box. It also patinas faster.

How do I care for Oro Legacy leather? Brush off dirt, then Red Wing Foam Leather Cleaner for heavier soil and All Natural Boot Oil, Mink Oil or Leather Conditioner to keep it fed. Conditioning darkens the leather slightly.

Can it be resoled? Yes. Goodyear welt construction, so the outsole can be replaced by a cobbler or Red Wing's repair shop.

Is this a safety toe boot? No. The cap toe is leather, not a safety toe.
